Welcome to the Brunswick Kindergarten Fete Blog

Standard

We hope this blog will be a way the Brunswick Kinder Fete Committee can communicate to families to let them know what is happening, how they can volunteer on the day, donate items and get involved. The Fete Committee is made up of kinder parents who volunteer their time to coordinate and run the fete. The fete is held once a year and is a big and popular event and fundraiser.  All the items sold at the fete have been donated or made by the local community.  Fingers crossed it will be a beautiful day and raise some funds to support our kindergarten.

The Brunswick Kindergarten Fete for 2012 will be held on:

When?             Saturday 13 October 2012

What time?      10.00am to 4.00pm

Craft goodies!

Standard

The craft group has been working hard to make lots of original items for you to buy at the kinder fete craft stall. I thought I would share a few photos to show some of the creations produced so far:

If you love making things too, we would love you to contribute some of your creations to the fete craft stall so we can raise some much needed funds for the kinder. Could you please put your creations into the craft box above the lockers or pass them on to your child’s teacher?

Thank you and get crafting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc!!

Next Week is: Lucky Dip and Wine Week

Standard

At this year’s fete we will be having a children and adult’s lucky dip! We are asking every family to purchase and donate at least one small item (more than one would be even better!) to be put into these bags for the children’s lucky dip. Typical items to include are toys, stickers, bubbles, hairclips etc, such as you would find in a $2 shop.

Please, no food items or lollies!

Your lucky dip contributions need to be:

  • Placed in provided bags
  • Stickered with appropriate gender sticker, orange for girl or blue for boy
  • Placed in Lucky Dip Box in foyer any time next week (we will accept late additions!)

There are extra bags and stickers in the box!

Wine

Do you have a bottle of wine at home or a favourite you would like to share with others? The adult lucky dip will consist of wrapped up bottles of wine that can then be purchases at the fete without knowing what you will get!

It would really be appreciated if you could donate a wrapped bottle of nice wine and also place it in the Lucky Dip box?

The kinder relies heavily on the money raised at the Fete each year. Your contributions will help raise money for purchasing of equipment & materials etc for the kinder children.

Thank you in advance for your support

For the lovers of BEER!

Standard

I got to pick up 3 fabulous prizes yesterday and sampled wares along the way, first stop Sugardough, who have kindly donated a voucher (bought lunch for 4!) Then popped in at Triple R to pick up some merchandise and please don’t forget their radiothon is coming up soon! But the piece de resistance had to be Thunder Road brewery:

When you walk down into an old factory only to see this amazing bar in the middle of the brewery!

I do not personally take part in beer, but I have to say the smell was amazing, nothing like that of an old pub but rather deliciously yeasty!

I had only planned to pick up their wonderful donation, a private tour of the brewery along with a tasting and Growler Club Membership, but instead I also walked out with this:

My husband was more than happy with my fundraising efforts! www.thunderroadbrewing.com

Last but not least we have had Dominos pizza turn up at Michelle’s door with $400 worth of vouchers, and a pizza I hope! So great to see the local businesses getting behind our fete.

Donations

Standard

We have had some fabulous donations from families both as prizes for on the day of the fete and also businesses donating food, drinks and supplies towards the day. This all helps in increasing our overall profit on the day and making it a fun filled community event. But there are still lots of things needed from our kinder families!

Throughout term 3 you will be receiving information about different donation weeks. Meaning we will be asking for a particular item to be donated and dropped off at the kinder during a specific week.

Here is the list of things we will be asking for, so if you could keep them in mind when you are doing your shopping and put them aside until we ask you to bring them into the kindergarten it would be much appreciated:

  • Lucky dip items for a boy and a girl (no food items please)
  • A bottle of nice wine (for an adult lucky dip!)
  • Multi-packs of chips, rice crackers, snacks etc
  • Seedlings/plants
  • A great recipe for your cake stall cake!

We are still asking for clean, working toys, good quality books and finished craft items. They can all be placed in the appropriate boxes above the lockers in the kindergarten foyer.

I am also still looking for prizes for the silent action and spinning wheel; gift vouchers, goods and services would be greatly appreciated from your or friends’ businesses.

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you,

Cathy Boucher and the fete committee

Kindergarten Fete Volunteers Needed!

Standard

When is the fete? :  First Saturday of Term 4, 13/10/2012

Term 3 is going to be a very busy term for the kindergarten fete preparations. This year we are going to have some wonderful stalls and activities for the whole family, including:

  • Fire Engine Rides
  • A Small Animal Petting Zoo
  • Face Painting
  • Side Show Alley Games
  • A Jumping Castle
  • Toy, Book, Plant and Craft Stalls
  • Food and cake stall
  • Live Entertainment by the ‘rrrockets’ children’s band and a live circus show
  • Spinning wheel prizes, a Silent Auction and a Major Raffle

This is but a sample of some of the activities planned on the day. All of the profits from the day go directly back to the kindergarten to purchase equipment, games, toys and supplies for all the kinder kids! Last year’s fete raised over $15,000 for the kindergarten.

A big part of this was due to the generous donation of kinder parents volunteering their time before and on the day of the fete. Each stall will be manned by volunteers, working in shifts of 2 hours. With some stalls needing at least 5 volunteers at a time, this involves a lot of people power!

Towards the end of term 3 a notice board of the different shifts and stalls will be put up in the foyer, I am kindly asking that as many parents as possible get involved, sign up, turn up and help to make this year’s fete another great success.

I am still in need of a number of volunteers to help out with the preparations before the day and would love to hear from you. We will next be meeting at the Kindergarten for a general fete meeting on Tuesday 31st of July from 7 pm, I would love to see you there! Please contact me Cathy on 0435292434, cssundbye@hotmail.com with any suggestions, ideas or ways that you would like to get involved.
